Visa-free, visa-on-arrival & eVisa countries for Pakistani passport holders

Where can a Pakistani passport take you without an embassy visit? Here is the honest, verified answer — grouped by visa type, with stay limits and the exact documents immigration officers ask for.

Two big things other sites get wrong

  • UAE is NOT visa-on-arrival for Pakistanis. You need a pre-arranged online visa before flying. The June 2026 VOA expansion added Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Kenya and South Africa — not Pakistan.
  • Qatar VOA for Pakistanis is temporarily suspended (since 1 April 2026). Check the official portal or your airline before booking a "visa-free" Doha trip.

The 4 ways Pakistanis can travel without an embassy visit

✅Visa-free

Just book a ticket. No visa application, no visa fee. Your passport gets stamped at immigration.

🛬Visa on arrival

You get the visa/permit at the airport or border. Bring cash for fees, hotel booking and return ticket — many counters want to see them.

📲eTA / free ETA

A quick online registration before you fly. Cheaper and faster than a visa, but mandatory — do it before departure.

💻eVisa

A full visa application done online. You apply, pay and receive the visa electronically before travel — no embassy visit.

Documents every Pakistani traveler should carry

  • ✅ Passport valid 6+ months beyond your travel dates (some countries want more)
  • ✅ Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • ✅ Hotel booking or host address + invitation letter
  • ✅ Proof of enough funds (bank statement or cash card)
  • ✅ Travel insurance where required (Georgia, Cuba, Myanmar…)
  • ✅ Polio certificate — needed for some destinations
  • ✅ Yellow fever certificate — much of Africa & South America
  • ✅ Printed copies of everything — VOA counters and airlines ask to see them

Airlines verify documents against the IATA Timatic database at check-in and can refuse boarding even when a country's rules say you are fine. Always re-check with your airline in the last 48 hours before you fly.

Frequently asked questions

How many countries can a Pakistani passport visit without a visa?

As of October 2026: 12 destinations are fully visa-free, 12 more offer a standard visa on arrival, and 2 (Kenya, Sri Lanka) offer a free or low-cost electronic travel authorisation — that is 26 easy-access destinations before counting conditional options. The Henley Passport Index 2026 counts about 30 destinations overall and ranks the Pakistani passport 100th in the world.

Is UAE visa on arrival for Pakistani citizens?

No. Pakistani citizens need a pre-arranged UAE visa (online) before flying. The UAE visa-on-arrival list — including the expansion announced on 25 June 2026 (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Kenya, South Africa) — does not include Pakistan. Some UAE residents can use their residence permit to get visas or visa-on-arrival elsewhere.

Is Qatar still visa on arrival for Pakistanis?

No — Qatar visa on arrival for Pakistani citizens has been temporarily suspended since 1 April 2026. Check the official Qatar visa portal or your airline before booking, because the suspension can be lifted or extended.

What documents should a Pakistani traveler always carry?

A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates, a confirmed return or onward ticket, hotel booking or host address, proof of enough funds, and travel insurance where required. Some destinations also ask for a polio vaccination certificate or a yellow fever certificate.

Can the airline stop me from boarding even if the country says visa-free?

Yes. Airlines check documents against the IATA Timatic database at check-in, and they are responsible if they carry you wrongly. Always re-check requirements with your airline before flying, and carry printed copies of hotel bookings, return tickets and insurance.

Does my visa or residence permit from another country help?

Often yes — a valid US, UK, Schengen or GCC visa/residence can unlock visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to destinations that normally require a visa, such as Georgia, Turkey (eVisa), Albania, Serbia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and several Caribbean and Latin American countries. See the golden-ticket section above.
